Health professionals

Welcome to the health professionals' section.

The collaboration and involvement of health professionals in TRACsa's programs is essential if better health and social outcomes for people injured on the roads or at work, are to be achieved.

TRACsa commenced operations in December 2005. Our Corporate Plan 2006 - 2010 sets out how we envisage TRACsa growing to support the work of health service providers in South Australia.

In 2006 TRACsa established its Best Practice Taskforce, which has developed clinical guidelines for the treatment of acute and chronic whiplash associated disorders.

TRACsa supports health service providers by:

  • developing and disseminating recognised best practice pathways and support tools (eg, for whiplash associated disorders and in 2008-09, for other soft tissue injuries such as lower back)
  • promoting the uptake of best practice assessment and treatment pathways and guidelines amongst health professionals in their day to day practice
  • supporting the education and training of health professionals in the use of best practice pathways (eg, through our sponsorship of a National Institute of Clinical Studies (NICS) Fellow in 2008)
  • encouraging and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, communication and partnerships between health service providers and key stakeholders such as academic and research organisations, the Motor Accident Commission, WorkCover SA and others
  • facilitating research and evaluation in injury and trauma recovery
  • building clinical and research leadership and capacity in health service delivery in compensation settings.

This section will soon have more information relevant to general practitioners, psychologists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, occupational therapists, emergency service providers, other medical specialists and other health professionals.
